Important Information Regarding COVID-19
Dear patients and referring doctors of Victoria Oral Surgery,
We are pleased to welcome patients back to the office for regular and emergent dental appointments. As an oral surgery practice, we have always taken great pride in putting the health and safety of our patients and staff first. Dental practices have always had advanced infection control procedures.
We take your health and the health of our staff members seriously. We have several systems in place throughout our practice to protect you and staff members. Here are a few of the precautions we take every day.
Pre-screening
We will continue to pre-screen patients using the latest guidance from our dental association. The initial pre-screening will take place over the phone and you’ll be assessed again when you arrive at the office. We ask that all patients who are feeling sick to please reschedule.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
All our dental healthcare professionals wear personal protective equipment to protect themselves and patients. When you arrive at the office, you will be asked to sanitize your hands with hand sanitizer provided and don a mask provided. Any gloves or masks worn from home are to be removed and replaced with the equipment provided.
Physical Distancing
We’ve arranged the schedule to reduce wait times. Please make every effort to arrive on time for your appointment. If you encounter another patient or staff member, please do your best to maintain two metres of space between you at all times.
Limited Access
Only patients and treatment providers will be allowed in treatment areas.
For Patients 18yrs old or younger having surgery, the responsible guardian must accompany you into the clinic to sign consent. We will then have them wait outside the clinic and we will call them when they are to come into the clinic, and you are ready to be escorted home. If the appointment is for a consultation only, we ask that one guardian only accompany the patient into the consultation room.
For patients over 18yrs old having surgery, your escort will be asked to not come into the clinic, and we will call them when they are to come into the clinic, and you are ready to be escorted home. If the appointment is for a consultation only, we ask that your escort again remain outside of the clinic unless necessary for communication or assistance.
Office Disinfection
High touch surfaces throughout the office are wiped down regularly. Magazines have been removed from the waiting room. Between patients, all rooms are cleaned and disinfected, and surface barriers are replaced. A washroom is available for patients only and the keys are disinfected after each patient. Where possible, contactless payment options are encouraged. All point of sale machines and counters are disinfected after each patient.
Sterilization
All tools are either disposable or thoroughly sterilized between patients. We’re proud to uphold rigorous sterilization procedures at our office.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
We appreciate your continued support and patience during these unprecedented times.
